GRAND KNIGHT’S COMMENTS

Greetings Brother Knights,

There is a time for all seasons.  This is the final month of my two years as your Grand Knight.  It has been an honor and a privilege to have served you.  What I have received far exceeds what I have given in leading this great Council.

The rewards include the deepening in my Catholic Faith.  The Knights of Columbus have so many opportunities to pray together.  Every business and social meeting and first degree exemplification we have group prayers.  We pray for our sick Knights and family members.  At our annual Mass for Deceased Knights we pray with their widows and families.  Each month we pray for the sanctity of life from the moment of conception to natural death.  At our annual Marian Hour Rosary we pray while inspired by the images of our Blessed Virgin Mary as commemorated by our Supreme Council.

The rewards also include the many new friendships I have developed with you, my brother Knights.  You who have been officers, directors and trustees have enriched my life.  The fellowships we enjoy make all our efforts endearing.  Working together with you, Catholic men and your ladies, in a common cause brings joy to all of us.

Joining you in giving of our time and treasures to worthy Charities is such a great reward.  It is so true that it is better to give than to receive.  The intellectual disability organizations and Right to Life charities have become very dear to me.
My Patriotic fervor was deepened on Veterans Day at Immaculate Conception when I addressed the children, veterans, staff and families.  They learned that it was the Knights of Columbus that persuaded Congress in 1954 to add “under God” into the “Pledge of Allegiance”.  It was a proud occasion when our Honor Guard led the procession in and out of the gymnasium.

As I leave my term as Grand Knight I am so proud of the team of great officers and directors who have developed new projects, experiences and leadership skills to carry on our exciting work.

Vivat Jesus!
Jerry Hamill, Grand Knight

Financial Report / Mark Aebly

We made the first bonus tier which gives us an extra $100!!!  We sold a total of 916 tickets which we get $2 for each and add the bonus we will get a total of $1932.  Thanks to all those who sold raffle tickets this years.  The five Knights that turned in the most money this year were:  Jerry Beck $480, Raphael Ballweg $255, Arnie Pichler $250, Scott Lewis $240 and Bob Sieben $220.  Special thanks goes out to them and the people that may have helped them.

We are working on the last 18 members who haven't paid their dues this year.  What makes it even harder is in a lot of cases we don't have a current telephone number to contact a member so we can talk to them to see if they have financial problems or other things going on that we could help them with.  We don't want to add to your problems by continuing to ask for dues.  If you don't communicate with us, we can’t help you.  To help us out and bring our records up to date, PLEASE, if you have changed your telephone number, got a cell phone or deleted your land line and use only your cell phone in the past 5 years call me, email me or send a letter and tell me your new number.  Thank you

For those members who wish to suspend their membership for any reason, the Knight needs to send me a note stating that.  We have received notes from wives or members of the family and some messages on the answering machine stating this, but we have to have it in writing signed by the Knight.  We can't take action any other way.

Be prepared to work to 5:00 p.m.-again, split shifts AREN'T allowed. You will be checked in AND out to verify our time served-therefore your gate pass is numbered.
